Papers on the first day (Monday) will survey university museums in Korea and will also address from both the Korean and International perspectives the main ICOM theme (intangible heritage) as well as traditional culture in university museums.

Universities are dynamic institutions devoted to the creation, organisation and transmission of knowledge. University museums were once partners and initiators of these processes. But are they today? What new processes are university museums devising and using to meet modern challenges? How should university museums meet the expectations of university management? What will attract the various communities served by the host institution? Is the future of university museums uncertain? Is adaptation necessary for survival?

How are university museums perceived by academics, students, university administrators and the local public? Are university museums considered part of the museums community in your country? Do university museums present what interests their curators or their visitors? Are university museums considered as financial liabilities or as ventures which have many beneficial flow-on effects? Should university museums link and co-operate to give visitors a richer experience?

POSTERS, PAPERS AND OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS

Offers of Papers, Posters and other contributions are invited. Contributions will be selected by Korean and International subcommittees. Please note that space for oral Papers is limited. Contributions of Posters may be submitted with an accompanying associated printed Paper, which may be considered for publication in the Proceedings of the conference. Chairs of UMAC working groups who have significant results to communicate may consider presenting them as a Paper, although it should be noted that a plenary session has been scheduled in one of the working group sessions.
