be toured with a guide. This is the best way to experience the
traditional heritage of Korea in a short time. Most of the palaces
of the Joseon Dynasty are situated in the northern part of downtown.

sites and also you can enjoy some traditional cultural performances
at the palaces.

the Namsangol Hanok village, a traditional Korean village,
you can participate in some Korean traditional cultural activities
provided by the village. You can observe the secrets of ?Hanbok?,

instruments and even how to make Gimchi.

Cruising on the Han River is a wonderful way to relax in Seoul.
It is a special experience to watch the sun rise or sunset
on the Han River. Although high-rise buildings line the river,
gardens on river terraces and hills on the banks give you
a refreshed feeling. Near the Jamsil ferry port, the Lotte
shopping center and markets nearby are good places for shopping.

History Musuem will be waiting for ICOM delegates. A visit

current policies. Buyeo and Gongju were capitals of ancient
Baekje kingdom for almost two hundreds years. Many archaeological
and historic relics at two historical cities exhibit the glorious
Baekje culture.

The most popular tourism spots in Korea are the famous mountains
and East coast in the Gangwon province. Among them, the rocky
Mt. Seorak, Gyeongpodae Lake and Beach, Naksansa Buddhist

The Seongyojang and the Ojukheun in Gangneung city are very
famous houses of Yangban in the Joseon Dynasty. Yeongwol,
a small city in the western slope of the Mt.Taebaek, is one

by his successor, King Sejo who was his uncle.

Jeju Island is located in the South Sea facing the Pacific
Ocean in the South. The peak of Mt. Halla is covered with

of Korea and are two of the most well known centers of Korean
traditional arts and culture. Pansori (Korean traditional
songs, UNESCO Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage
of Humanities), elegant traditional Korean paintings and superb
examples of traditional food are waiting for ICOM delegates.
The Gwangju Biennale is expected to open during ICOM 2004
SEOUL at a place near the National Museum. Jeonju has been
the local socio-political center in the southwestern area
and a wonderful place to enjoy all kinds of traditional art
craft-works.
